Poem Fourteen: Love Letter
*
There is a difference between
invocation and evocation.
One separates the identity
of the caller and called,
while the other suggests
a certain possession.
Mythology of water
folding into other water.
Overlapping constellations,
the white flags of nerve-endings,
interconnected tributaries,
electric impulses, arrow
and pulse of blood, the metrics
of hymns.
We are skylarks who hold back
for a moment, song.
